PaperWar 0.2 Update
Made several major changes to the game! Hopefully the game will give more fun to players.
New units added!
Human Units
- Infantry: Basic unit with standard capabilities.
- Rocketeer: Specializes in anti-armor and anti-air operations.
- Gunner: Capable of firing rapid and consecutive bullets, ideal for suppression.
- Artillery: Delivers long-range area attacks, effective against grouped enemies.
- APC: Provides fast fire support with anti-air capabilities.
- Tank: Balanced unit with armor and anti-armor weaponry.
- Heavy Tank: Equipped with heavy armor and missile launch capabilities for destructive power.
- Helicopter: Basic air unit, versatile and mobile.
- Jet: Fast-moving and designed primarily for anti-air combat.
- Bomber: Specializes in large-scale ground attacks, damaging areas.
- GunShip: Fast laser attacks, suitable for air-only engagements.
- Cruiser: Capable of spawning drones for additional battlefield support.
- Destroyer: The ultimate unit with superior firepower and defense.
- Rocket: A small, self-destructive weapon designed for immediate impact.
- Missile: A medium, self-destructive weapon for greater damage.
- Nuke: A large, self-destructive weapon for maximum area damage.
Bug Units
- Worm: A small and slow bug, basic form of the bug army.
- Beetle: Armored bug, offering better protection and durability.
- Tanker: Heavily armored bug, designed to withstand significant damage.
- Spitter: A bug with ranged attack capabilities, effective against air units.
- Biter: Fast and deadly, excels in quick, lethal strikes.
- Swarmer: Capable of spawning Biters, enhancing its threat through numbers.
- Exploder: Designed to explode upon contact or when near targets, dealing area damage.
- Flyer: A fast-moving flying bug, challenging to target.
- Wasp: A flying and deadly bug, combines speed with lethality.
- Corruptor: Specializes in ranged area attacks, effective against clusters of units.
- Carapax: Possesses very heavy armor, making it extremely tough to defeat.
- Tentarix: A flying bug with ranged attack capabilities, versatile and dangerous.
Level Design
Currently I added 9 levels, with different combination and spawn rate of the bugs. I'm still struggling a lot with the wave design. The enemies are often too weak or too strong. I cannot find a objective way of measuring the game difficulty level and would really hope some one can help and share their experience and feedbacks.
Upgrade System
Currently, killing the bugs/nests will give player money, where they can use the money to purchase upgrades. If they win, will proceed to next level, if lose, will fall back to previous level, hence player will always keep in the game, and utilize the upgrades and buy new upgrades to strengthen themselves.
Sound
Added some small sounds to make the game looks nicer.
Plan
I'm a little bit tired of building this game. Will leave this game for a while until I have better idea or getting enough feedbacks. I probably will make a video about the game play. And I hope I will think better ways to finish this game in future.
